Devni Mori
Protected Monument – Archaeological Importance (Gujarat)
Introduction
Devni Mori is an important archaeological site located near Shamlaji
in Aravalli District of Gujarat. The site is associated with early
Buddhist activities dating back to the 3rd–4th Century CE.
Historical Background
Excavations at Devni Mori revealed remains of a large brick-built
Buddhist Mahastupa along with Viharas and Chaityas.
Relic caskets containing sacred remains believed to be of Lord Buddha
were discovered from the site.
